Raw Nettle Fabric by the Meter
100% Cotton, Loomstate
Why is this fabric called "Nettle"?
Nettle fabric used to be made from nettle yarn, as cotton was not yet known at that time. When the cheaper cotton yarn was later discovered in Europe, nettle was then made from cotton. The typical plain weave for nettle has remained.
Raw nettle is often used for making prototypes of expensive clothing, as this material is very inexpensive to purchase. But cotton nettle is also used for decoration, draping, or crafting.
